Demo save stuck in the full game: start on the public branch

The short answer

If you continued a PC demo save in the full game, switch to Default Public Version and start a new game. Sunny Lab confirms that demo saves are incompatible even when the menu offers Continue.

Quick guide

  1. Steam Library → game Properties → Game Versions & Betas.
  2. Select Default Public Version.
  3. Start New Game; do not resume the demo’s Continue entry.

Check whether this fix applies

This instruction is for a run inherited from the PC demo. It is not a general cure for every crash or for a fresh console save. First distinguish your save’s origin; a new full-game run with a different symptom needs a different diagnosis.

Use the supported starting point

The developer removed the demo branch, but that did not remove old saves. Seeing the public version in Steam therefore does not prove that your continued run is compatible. You need both conditions: public game version and a newly started full-game run.

Verify the change

The branch field should show Default Public Version, and selecting New Game should begin the opening rather than resume your old demo checkpoint. We have no supported demo-save conversion method. Do not delete all saves or disable Cloud saves merely because an old Continue entry remains.

If a new run still fails

That is outside the confirmed demo-save fix. Use the matching current issue thread and include that the run began fresh on the public branch. Do not repeat a whole new game indefinitely as a generic troubleshooting step.
